LUDLOW GOVERNMENT

 

Government in the City of Ludlow has been divided into various boards, committees and departments directed by the findings and orders of the Mayor and City Council. 

As a Class IV City, Ludlow's City Council consists of six members, each of which serve two year terms. The presiding Mayor serves a four year term.

The Mayor and Council serve as the governing body that establishes and authorizes all appointive offices and the duties and responsibilities of those offices.  This includes codes, rules and regulations  for public health, safety and welfare.

 

In addition, the Council appropriates funds of the city budget which provide for the orderly management of city resources.

 

    Other Boards and Committees include:

 

 Board of Adjustments: The Board of Adjustments is responsible for interpreting and addressing zoning concerns relative to the Kentucky Building Codes and coinciding ordinances.

 

 Civil Service Board: The Ludlow Civil Service Board was created to provide testing services for the hiring of Ludlow's Police force and promotions within this department.

 

 Code Enforcement Board: The Ludlow Code Enforcement Board was formed per Ordinance 2002-14 as a   means to issue remedial orders and impose civil fines when a violation of an ordinance or code provision has been classified as a civil offense.  The purpose of the Code Enforcement Board is to promote public health and safety in the city.  This is done by enforcing the most current city and state building codes. 

 

 Ethics Board: The Board of Ethics was established to enforce the requirement of the city's code of ethics. This includes  assuring that standards of ethical conduct and financial disclosure requirements of the city are met and followed.

 

  Park Board: The Ludlow Park Board is responsible for the care, management and control of all parks and playgrounds within the city limits. The responsibilities of the Park Board include:

     *Ensure quality playgrounds for citizens

     *Ensure park equipment, fields and land are maintained

Please observe the the following tax rates and license costs pertaining to Ludlow:

 

Property Tax Rate: 2.12/ $1000 of assessed value

Tangible Property: 5.45/1000 of assessed value

Fire/EMS Special Assessment of Property: 1.71/ $1000 per assessed value

Business License: $50 per business

Rental License: $100 per parcel

Payroll: 1.5%

Insurance Premium: 10%

Vehicle City Sticker: $15 can be paid at the Municipal Center or at the Kenton County Courthouse

Handicap Parking Permit: $50 for permit, $10 renewal rate

Waste Fee: $41.65 per unit*

 

City taxes are generally due October 31st annually.  Ludlow operates on a fiscal year beginning July 1st and ending June 30th the following year.

 

*Waste collection is billed quarterly and due the 18th of January, April, July and October.
